In June, schoolchildren from across the county came to Portlaoise to conquer one of the great sporting milestones.
And the event was so popular, it's making its way back this September
So - Children of Laois - Can you run? Can you Cycle? Did you ever do the two things together?
A Duathlon is a special sport where you run, then you cycle and then you run again.
All as f a s t as you can!
When you finish the race you will get a medal, a t-shirt, a certificate and a surprise!
Just get your Mum or Dad to fill out and sign a form for you, and then send it back to us. Simple!
And don't forget - if you want a t-shirt, you must fill this form out fast! Good luck in the race.

- Laois Childrens Duathlon is the first duathlon in Laois especially for Children. Duathlon involves running, cycling and running again.
- Laois Childrens Duathlon is being organised by Trilogy Triathlon (the Triathlon club in Laois) with the Laois Sports Partnership and Triathlon Ireland.
- Duathlon involves running, cycling and running again.
- The event takes place on 22 September 2007 at Portlaoise GAA Centre (venue tbc) and involves a short run, a short cycle and a short second run.
- The duathlon is being run in three age categories - under 8, under 10 and under 12.
- All races are mixed, and distances vary according to age - under 8 (200m run, 750m cycle, 200m run),
under 10 (400m run, 750m cycle, 400m run) and under 12
(400m run, 1,400m cycle, 400m run).
- The emphasis is on completing the course, and all competitors will win the same prize - a T-shirt, a medal, a certificate and a surprise.
- The event starts at 10:30am, and will be complete by lunchtime. Additional entertainment and activities will be provided to make this a family day out to remember.
- Participants must register in advance, and all registrations must be accompanied by the signature of a parent / guardian. Application forms are available in Brackens Esso/Gala station on Stradbally Rd, Portlaoise, or by download ().
- An entry fee of €5.00 is payable.
