V enjoyable morning in Athy this am . 22 races between the 2 clubs and about 10 marshalls.
Huge thanks to Athy Club members for joining in and loaning the bike rack - the banter + competition increases with more racers so we are delighted to have you join in. .
The barrow was warm for the swim, with 500m & 750m options, but there was a blustery wind that couldn't make up its mind which direction it was going in for the out & back 20km cycle, the run was as picturesque as always along the bank .
My name is Mark Flynn and I am a postgraduate researcher in Waterford Institute of Technology. I am currently funded by the Irish Research Council to undertake a study investigating the effects of maximal strength training on performance in triathletes.
As part of the study I have designed a questionnaire to assess triathletes perception of strength training and whether they feel it has any benefit in their training schedule. The questionnaire is available online through SurveyMonkey and takes 2 minutes to fill out. The link for the questionnaire is below:

WHAT IS THE TRI HEROES PROGRAM?
In September 2016, Triathlon Ireland will be introducing a nationwide schools triathlon programme called Tri Heroes. The programme is designed to help schools and teachers introduce triathlon activities to pupils whilst supporting the needs of the school to deliver the necessary Physical Education progression for all pupils.
The course teaches the basics of lifelong skills in swimming, cycling and running and brings them together in a manner which will inspire, motivate and challenge children.
Last summer Swim Session of the year.
